Boron Trichloride is a colorless gas with a strong choking odor and fumes in reaction to moist air. It is classified as a corrosive liquid. Due to its rapid hydrolysis to hydrochloric acid (and boric acid) by moisture, it is corrosive to mucous surfaces and skin. Edema and irritation of the upper respiratory tract will result if Boron Trichloride is inhaled. Lack of oxygen can kill.
