1-Butene, also known as alpha-Butylene, is a flammable, colorless gas at room temperature. 1-Butene is soluble in either and alcohol, but insoluble in water. This gas is nontoxic. At higher concentrations, 1-Butene can act as an anesthetic. It may cause frostbite if the gas comes in contact with the skin.
