Isobutane, also known as 2-Methylpropane or Trimethylmethane, is the simplest member of the isoalkane series of hydrocarbons. Isobutane is easily liquefied, flammable and colorless. Butadiene is mildly irritating to the mucous membranes and can also function as an anesthetic. Large concentrations will act as an asphyxiant.
