Octafluorocyclobutane, also known as Perfluorocyclobutane and Halocarbon-C318, is a nonflammable, odorless, colorless, and tasteless gas at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Octafluorocyclobutane is often used as a gaseous dielectric, a propellant, a foam producing agent and used in combination with carbon monoxide for selective oxide etch. This gas can cause frostbite of the tissues.
